Welcome to Huddinge’s libraries! In order to borrow items from Huddinge’s libraries, you will need a library card and a PIN code. The card is free, and can be used at all six of our libraries. You can use it to borrow books, films, magazines, CDs, e‐books and more. There is no charge for borrowing items from the library. In order to get a library card, you must first register with us. You can do this via a form on our website or in person at the library. You will need to bring ID when you come to collect your library card.
You can use the library services even if you don’t have an identity document.

All our libraries have computers and wireless networks that you can use if you have a library card.
Borrowing and reserving items
How long can I borrow items for?
The normal lending period is four weeks, but there are some exceptions. For example, films and certain popular books have shorter lending periods. When you borrow an item, you will receive a receipt showing the return date that applies.
What happens if I return an item late?
You will then have to pay an overdue charge. The amount charged depends on what you have borrowed and how late you return it.
How do I extend loans?
You can extend loans by logging on to our website using your library card and PIN code, or by calling one of our libraries. You can extend loans twice at the most, but there are some exceptions. For example, you cannot extend loans for films or for books with a waiting list.
Can I add myself to the waiting list for a book that is currently on loan?
Yes, you can. There is no charge for waiting lists for one or more books at Huddinge’s libraries.
Can I request books from libraries outside Huddinge?
Yes, you can. It costs SEK 10 to request a book from a library outside Huddinge Municipality.
Other borrowing rules that you should be aware of:
- If you are under 18, you will need a guardian’s signature in order to get a library card. If you are 16 years old and have your own identity card, your guardian's signature is not needed.
- You are responsible for all loans on your library card.
- Guardians are responsible for their children’s loans.
- You can return items to any of our libraries.
- You are responsible for borrowed items being returned on time.
- If a book is returned late, you must pay an overdue charge.
- Children under 18 do not pay overdue charges.
- If you do not return a book, the library will send you a bill for the book.
- If you return your overdue loans, you do not need to pay this bill. However, you must pay any overdue charges.
- If a book is damaged during the loan period, you must pay for it.
- If you pay for a lost book and then find the book, you cannot get your money back.
- If you owe more than SEK 100, you cannot borrow items or join waiting lists for books. Once you pay, you can borrow items and join waiting lists for books again.
